Blue, White and Gold Baby Boy Cake Smash

You only turn 1 year old once and a cake smash is a perfect way to celebrate your little one’s birthday. I think these photos speak for themselves to the personality of this little guy and the fun we had during this one year old birthday session. As part of this client’s Watch Me Grow package, I had the opportunity to photograph this cutie during all the milestones of his first year in our Rockville Maryland photography studio. From a sleepy newborn, to a sitting & smiley 6-month-old, to an active 1-year-old ready to celebrate his big day with a smash!

It wasn’t hard to capture his contagious smile, since we caught plenty of happy moments throughout the whole session. Baby boy loved playing with the wooden toys during pre-cake photos. He also enjoyed scarfing down some cake during the smash. And then we ended our time together on a high note, with bath time splashes!

This theme was super cool to put together. In the background was a balloon garland with a mix of blues, gold and white. We added some puffy cloud material with fairy lights over top, as well as a few gold paper stars. The finishing touches were a light-up “One” sign and a white lantern framing the birthday boy.

And of course to tie it all together was a bold blue cake, custom made like each and every one of our cakes included in our sessions! Take a look at just a few highlights below to see how much fun we had in this colorful session!
