Neutral Tones and Nature Elements Cake Smash

While a cake smash is an awesome time to be playful with bold color choices and fancy props, I do love the occasional simplistic theme of neutral tones and nature elements. When this sweet girl arrived at our Rockville baby photography studio, she just couldn’t contain her excitement to celebrate her special day!

She showed off her two little front teeth in plenty of smiles throughout the pre-cake photos, the smash and bath time. Mom chose some adorable clothes for her to wear. Her pre-cake photo outfit was chosen from our client closet. The white tulle gown with soft pink and mint green details is a favorite. We chose dainty hair accessories to match. To continue the delicate and soft theme, baby girl’s next outfit was a little white dress with lace.

The backdrop of the cake smash perfectly mirrored the light and natural color scheme of her outfits. For the hanging wooden branch, I combined green foliage with some white hydrangeas, fresh eucalyptus and a few pops of pink florals. And the classic white cake sat nicely on the rustic wooden stand. All that was left to do was let the birthday girl dig in! Afterwards, I got to capture more of her joyful smiles during bath time.

I had such a blast putting together this set up and photographing such a happy baby! I’ve photographed her since birth so it has been an honor to watch her grow!!
