Little Blake was such a joy to have in the studio! After a few snuggles and some tickles from mom and dad, she was the star of the show. Speaking of show, the theme of this birthday session was rock n’ roll. The whole family loves music. How awesome! Mom and dad dressed her in an adorable vintage tee, paired with black jeans matching her parents. I absolutely loved the vibe of this session complete with custom cake and our hand-painted backdrop. Before she dug in to her sweet treat, we set her up with her favorite musical instrument toys and let her do her thing.  

Secret to Children’s Photography

I’ve found with children’s photography, especially at the one year old age, it’s best to let the little one take the lead. When you let them explore and take time to warm up to you, the results can be genuinely amazing. Just like this session! When this sweet girl wanted to bang on her drum, we all grabbed an instrument and had a party. When she wanted to play peek-a-book with her lovey, we did! And when she wanted some snuggles and tickles with Mom and Dad, we let it happen. The genuine emotions, giggles, and laughter of a baby truly can’t be beat!

Once it was time to dive into the cake, we let her go at it. I love how her rainbow tutu just pops on the gray splatter paint backdrop, making her the star of the show. It really represents her colorful personality!
