Girly Pink Confetti Cake Smash - What to Expect From Start To Finish
So you have finally reached out to your photographer (Hi, that’s me!) and decided we are a great match to capture this milestone moment in your baby’s life! Now what? Now it’s time to 1. Plan it out 2. Capture the moments and 3. Enjoy the memories.
This girly pink confetti smash was so much fun. Here’s how it happened:
1.Plan it out:
We discussed details about personality, color preferences, decor, style, and more. Mom had sent some inspiration photos from my portfolio along with color choices and her ideas for clothing. Pinterest is great for inspiration too and I always put my own style and creative spin on client’s ideas. I love to work with families to make this experience truly customized for your family. I pulled it all together and ended up with this simple, girly, pink, festive, confetti theme smash!
2. Capture the Moments:
Pre-Cake Photos
Before the session gets messy I always make time for simple but gorgeous photos to capture your baby's personality. This helps the little ones get comfortable with the new environment and gives your family traditional and timeless photos to enjoy. I believe you should have beautiful, non-cake covered photos of this milestone first birthday age too!
I particularly love these images on a neutral backdrop so your baby is the sole focus. A different outfit for this part of the session is a good idea for variety when you’re designing your family album or deciding which images to display in your home. It also gives you the opportunity to dress your baby in any outfit that you love!
I supply plenty of adorable natural looking toys in the studio that look especially great in photos. Parents are always welcome to bring something personal or sentimental from home if they choose to.
Cake Time
Baby gets changed into their birthday outfit and we let he/she explore the cake and have some fun. The cakes are deliciously sweet and always coordinate with the decor backdrop. Cakes are included in your session!
This particular little lady loved her pink and white cupcake cake and had a blast making a mess and digging into the icing!
Not every baby dives right into the cake, but it’s all about capturing your little one at this very moment in time, whether they are uncertain about it or do a face plant into the icing. Even with a few tricks up my sleeve and 100’s of cake smash sessions experienced, I always have to remember… the baby’s are the boss! :)
Bath Time
After your baby has finished celebrating with cake, it’s time to get cleaned up in the bath! The most adorable baby bath tub is placed on the backdrop and it usually brings out the smiles. Each smash ends with a bath. Love the detail shots of those tiny hands and feet!
3. Enjoy the Memories:
Wow, that was fun! Now it’s time to figure out WHAT you are going to do with all these gorgeous images and HOW you will honor them! This is the point of taking photos in the first place, right? Enjoy them. Preserve them.
USB’s fail, hard drives are damaged, and that copy on your iPhone is not reliable. Think of printed images as insurance for your memories.
The final step of the session is your Viewing & Ordering appointment available either virtually or In-Person at the studio. We work together to figure out what products or display items are right for your family based on needs, budget, style, and lifestyle. I take the guesswork out of the process and customize your artwork just for you. Small room, large wall, gifts for grandma, can’t decide …. no problem! Both Digital and Product packages are offered with a variety of professional items created to stand the test of time.
Every cake smash is new and different because it represents you, your baby, and your family’s personality! It’s such a joy to be able to document milestone moments and turn my client’s memories into beautiful keepsakes. I can’t wait to hear from you!
