A Musical Custom Cake Smash For This Birthday Boy

You only turn 1 year old once and a cake smash is a perfect way to celebrate your little one’s birthday. This client wanted the session to be music themed because her baby boy loved music. So we jumped right on it to make it happen!

The black note balloons I found on Amazon were perfect for this theme. All I needed were some music notes which I cut out just for this client. I love being creative to bring my client’s vision to life. The stars gave it that extra pop along with the fairy lights for some sparkle. We brought it all together with a custom music cake by Sweet DC which was perfection. Luckily, this little guy loved his cake!

Mom opted for a red bow to have a pop of color, I think it really ties the theme together. And who doesn’t love a baby boy in a bowtie?

I always include pre-cake photos in cake smash sessions. I think it’s important to have some timeless images that tell your baby’s story and share their personality in a “clean” way ;) The simplest way to keep your little one engaged during a shoot is toys! I have a whole stash behind the scenes. When we can find one that they like to hold their attention it makes for a great natural portrait.
